309th AMARG - Davis Monthan AFB

Currently hosting around 4,500 aircraft, the Aircraft Maintenance and Regeneration Center at Davis-Monthan AFB holds a fascination to aviation enthusiasts and has inspired a number of books and several web pages. The location is near ideal for long term storage of aircraft - there’s little rainfall and the desert surface is strong enough to support the largest planes.

In May 2007, AMARC was aligned as a Group under the 309 Maintenance Group at Hill AFB. Utah and hence became the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG)

For more information see AMARG’s own web page  and Martyn Swan’s MASDC III AMARC site

The location and content of the storage area constantly change - those familiar with the sight of several hundred stripped Boeing 707’s in the 80’s and 90’s next to the Kolb Road would be surprised to see them gone with a small number of C-5’s now the most remarkable landmark.

This purpose of this part of the site is to provide a definitive and reconciled list of all the residents at two specific points in time : 18 February 2000 and 20 May 2001.
